All I know for sure is that I love the hell out of my old 1996 MIM Standard Telecaster. It makes me really happy everytime I play it and to me, that's the bottom line. I will be replacing the electrical bits in time but for now it's my favorite guitar. I have better guitars (?), but it's my go to everytime! Kind of like that comfortable old chair that your wife wants to throw out but it fits you so well that you would show her the door first if push came to shove.

I am somewhat at a loss as to why anyone would suggest that this shouldn't matter? I have both MIM and MIA Fenders. And I've compared them in stores. I think that when someone says that they are all the same, there is no reason to stick your head in the ground and pretend that is correct. At the same time, I think MIM guitars are very nice guitars. I just would suggest chaning the pickups and on some, dressing the end of the frets. I guess I'm just a "cork sniffer."

Mick. MIA & MIM wood are all the same = high quality.
It is the add-on components that make the difference.
There are MIM guitars that cost more than MIA guitars
just because of the add-on:
frets, fretboard, tuners, bridge, pots pickups, etc etc etc.

So, the average MIA is better than the average MIM or MIJ
only because of add-on components. All three countries make
great guitars. I will bet a glass of cork sniffin' wine that top of the line
MIMs and MIJs are better guitars than SOME MIA guitars. Right?

Toppscore 8) Cheers

Today I ordered a HH Tele..MIM. CAR in color. Once its set up and I run it through the "wringer" I'll report back. I know the Humbuckers wont have that traditional Tele sound but I have other plans ( insert evil chuckle ) for that little redhead. It was an impulse spur of the moment type buy that hopefully I won't regret lol.

Yes. Telecaster with HH does not = Telecaster with SS.
I enjoy a variety of guitars.
My opinion is to have one Stratocaster SSS, and
Factory Telecasters: SS, 2x Wide Range, HH, HS, Tele Plus w/Lace Pickup options

Once you achieve the classic standard Fender Factory guitar setups,
Then have fun mixing up with other amps. Your HH is a great start.

I have Strats and Teles with the following pickups:
SSS, HSS, HSH, HHH, H, HH, & two with different Lace Sensor pickup options
~some have an in/out of phase switch,
~some have veritone switches,
~some have push/pull control switches,
~some have unique wiring to allow an SSS or HHH guitar to play all three pickups at once
(or) the neck & bridge pickups without the middle pickup.

For me, all my guitars provide unique tone & sound options.
Take care. Toppscore :)

You arent afraid to go for it Toppscore....I like that! I've allways wondered about a Strat with HHH. Once the pups heights is adjusted/found for personal taste its gotta be sorta unique. Nice collection there my friend. The custom wiring for the pups would really be nice to have...fantastic way for a player to obtain a signature sound for sure. I'd love to hear the HHH strat with the three of them working! You do your own wiring, pots, etc? I made a change today on the HH Tele....I cancelled it and went for the American Special instead. It will feel at home here with the HSS Strat to keep it company. I got a feeling I'm still going to want the HH. Should have just got the Special in addition to the HH. I'm making an effort to resist temptations lol. Sorry for the late reply...I have long hours and dont get home untill around 11:30 and after. Take care, thanks for your reply. 8)

Yes. I just received the below highly customized Warmoth "HHH" Stratocaster about one
month ago. I paid $1000, a good price that included shipping and the Fender HSCase.

It has three very high-powered "HHH" Seymour Duncan Hot & Cool Rails Humbuckers
that are single-coil pickup sized. Stainless steel frets. Shaller everything.
Custom wiring. Really way totally too obnoxiously cool 8) 8) 8) 8)

The American Special is an American with Texas Special pups. It arrived and I plugged it in last night.....sounds good and feels good. The frets need dressing down a tad for my taste. The TS pups have a nice little bite to them if needed.... gloss sunburst finish..sweet.
Wow! That Warmoth looks nice, I am guessing it plays well also. That set of SD rails should be sensitive and strong. The electronics on that axe are impressive as is the finish and got to love that 6 point trem. Got it broken in yet?

Not yet at all. I am taking it out to it's first gig tomorrow.
Will break it in with some Classic Rock

Hope it is not too much for her, since she still is in the training wheel stage

Can anyone help,

I have only today purchased what was described as an American Standard 2011 telecaster. Sounds great but thats not the point. I did notice made in USA but at home noticed assembled in mexico.

Here in the UK a standard telecaster sell at £375. The American Standard from £700+. Mine £879.

So for me I feel robbed and a bit sick after reading this post, and possibly been mis sold the guitar which relates to our trading standards in the UK.

Are the MIM guitars officially known as American Standard or Standard Telecasters.

Better not be. From what I have seen, any Fender guitar
that has "American" in it's name is from America.
If not, like Deluxe, Pawn Shop, Classic, BlackTop or other monikers,
double check. Usually, the MIMs and MIJs are just as good as then MIAs
But, Fender makes more margin because of the "American" name and I've
found most of Fender's American guitars have "American" in the name.

Now, for your 2011 . . . . Not sure if your guitar is used, demo model or new. Must
watch out for a new "partscaster" where some replaced original with another part.

Goodluck. Toppscore 8)

Any chance of a photo? It will help the knowledgable here to see!

Also where did you see assembled in Mexico? I saw a topic here once where someone saw that and turned out it was just the case and not the guitar

Anyway pictures or serial number would be a big help for sure!

Like I stated, if the word "American" is not in the Fender official guitar name, then
suspect that it is either MIM MIJ MIK MIC MIF MICKEY MOUSE
