I already did, see the links to each guitar in my previous post and just click on the specs tab. :)

That is interesting, I didn't realize there was a price difference but I now see it on the GC website when you choose the 2 tone from the dropdown menu. But on Fender's site they only list the Natural and 3 color versions now, with the prices being the same and Ash indicated as the wood.

I bought the MiM 72RI thinline before MIA were in production. I have the 2 tone and it sells for a little over $900 because its ash. I wouldn't trade it for a MIA. It plays and sounds excellent. I do own a Gibson Les Paul classic and a USA Stratocaster plus. The 72RI Thinline is up there with them.

I have a modified 2008 MIM Fender Deluxe HSS Fat Strat that I absolutely love. Awesome :!: :!: :!:
Bought it eight months ago, turned out to be a super incredible fantastic deal :o
This is the guitar that turned me onto humbucker guitars.
In fact, this is my very first humbucker guitar, ever :!: :!: :!:
Now, most all I buy are Super Strat types with at least one humbucker.
Thinking about it, I have = H, HHH, HSS, HSH, Strats & Super Strats.

This Deluxe HSS Fat Strat's neck is smooth and fits my hands nicely. Medium weight.
The upgraded pickups are gnarly too good
Personally, I cannot find a reason to think of differences between this partcular
MIM Deluxe Fat Strat, any MIA Standard Fat Strat and any MIA Deluxe Fat Strats :?: :?: :?:

Wow! I totally agree with you.
The MIA is nearly twice the MSRP than the Classic Series.
Following are the two side-by-side comparisons.

http://www.fender.com/products/productC ... on=guitars

I can barely find any differences.
The case is the biggie, and the finishes are differnent,
and the "switch tip" is another biggie

Searching EBay for New with Fender Five Year Warranty:
I could find the American for $1500/ish
and the Classics for $750/ish

Amazing. I'd love to know what the justification is, beyond what we can read.

Thanks for taking this particular comparison to the end.
I learned something. Toppscore 8)

It is curious indeed. As they say though, a fair price is whatever the buyer is willing to pay. :)

And here's the funny thing. My MIM telecaster actually came with the barrel style switch tip that the specs say is furnished on the MIA telecaster. Fender seems to be confused about this, because the pictures of both the MIA and MIM versions show a top hat style switch.

This seems like a trivial point, but it's one that I noticed right away, because aside from the pearloid pickguard and the switch tip, my new MIM thinline looks identical to the one I owned in the 1970's (which had a top hat switch).

Like I said, between MIA MIM & MIJ . . . . . .
Either IT IS Custom Shop or IT IS NOT Custom Shop.

Everything else is good from all three countries and only Custom Shop is Better.
Whatever price you pay for a MIA or MIM or MIJ will end up being a good product.
Just gotta justify what components and accessories you personally desire.
Take care. Toppscore 8)

I don't know about differences, but I've made some changes to my MIM tele that have made a world of difference in the guitar. I bored down thru the bridgeplate and the body and added ferrules to the back of the body to anchor the strings to the body instead of the bridge plate. I get a lot better tone and sustain that way. I also changed to GraphTech graphite saddles and a graphite nut. Tone is not too noticeably different, but maybe just a little warmer. I think that I've only broken 1 string in 4 years. I put on a set of Vintage Noisless pickups and copper shielded the pickup pockets, wiring channel and the back of the pickguard. I also added additional ground wiring to the bridgeplate and control plate. I think that I will change the switch and pots to American made electronics one of these days. I've also refretted the guitar and have been very happy with those results. I'll stack up my Custom MIM to any American Tele any day. Paid $289 for it in 1998 and less than $300 for all of the alterations put together. It is my workhorse guitar and my favorite of the 7 guitars that I own.

Biggest difference here (aside from minor hardware) is obviously labor. Price to assemble a guitar in Mexico is MUCH less than the US with comparable capabilities and benefit packages.

bought a Mexican tele ( 280 pounds ) and a Mexican strat ( 310 pounds ) about four / five years ago , the strat is fine , no work needed , sounds and feels great . The telecaster needed work , felt great but badly set up and poor pickups .A fret dressing , bone nut and Seymour Duncan bridge pickup ( vintage for broadcaster ) and now it really feels and sounds fantastic . Great value for money but don´t buy without trying first , the quality does vary . Would I buy American ? if I had the money at the time probably , would I buy American now to replace them , probably not , they are good enough for what I need but what are the Mexican guitars like now , could even be" was it made Monday or Friday ? "
You have to try before you buy , quality varies even with expensive instruments .
