If you follow the link you will see that the headstock has made in the USA, the rear side has the US serial number, it has american standard sticker on the protective film over the scratch plate which I have left on for now, but there is ticket which has on it, assembled in mexico.

The leaflets inside the case were in spanish too. At least I have my receipt which says American Standard Telecaster if there does prove to be an issue.

Thank you for your replys,

Scott

SKB is the manufaturer of the guitar case, which was apparently assembled in Mexico given the tag dated Nov. 28, 2011 which was in your guitar case.

Your guitar is a Fender American Standard Telecaster which was both made and assembled in Corona, California. While your guitar is UD10XXXXXX, it could be an 2011 guitar, based on the inspection date of the guitar case. It is quite normal for Fender guitars to have a neck serial number indicating that the neck was manufactured in the year preceding the manufacture date of the guitar.

If it doesn't have the belly cut, it's a '11. If it has the belly cut, it's a '12.

the american made ones are better crafted, have better woods, and have better electronics generally.... but, the mexican guitars are still great... if you get the chance, play both and see if you think the american is worth the extra money or not

Try the Fender Classic Player Baja Telecaster (made in Mexico).
Same price as the Classic Series but much better.
I paid 550,- euro's for it, blew my mind.

Groeten, Peter 8)

The Classic Series is a great guitar and a tremendous value. The quality is up there with the American Fenders. Mine's a Daphne Blue Strat. I've read many posts on Fender forums where different posters said that the Classic Series is the best current Fender product. I haven't played every Fender product that is currently being made, but I know the Classic Series' quality is just as good as any other Fender that I've ever played.

I have been seeking a couple of "Fender Classic Series" guitars.
Classis guitars are MIM Made in Mexico.

The Corona and Ensenada Plants are 15 miles apart

MIA - Made in the USA, by Mexicans
MIM - Made in Mexico, by Mexicans

US made have better electronics and the fit and finish are usually a bit nicer.

Not quite. Corona is 170 miles North of Ensenada.
Corona is East of Disneyland in Orange County.
Corona is 115 miles North of Tijuana
Ensenada is 65 miles South of Tijuana & San Ysidro.

Still, in the spec of the universe, you were pretty close

I got a MIM Classic 72 Thinline recently and am very happy with it. Back in 1973, I had the original version of this exact same guitar. I wish I still had that old guitar, but have to say the MIM version is every bit as nice. In fact, I think the build quality is a little better on the new MIM guitar.

I am thinking that Fender Custom Shop guitars and amps will be noticeably different
from Fender's regular MIA and MIM and MIJ. Fender is a becoming a public company
and will not settle for bad production, anywhere. My theory is that the real choices are:

Is It Fender Custom Shop? . . . . or Is It Not Custom Shop?

The Fender MIM & MIJ image and positive reponses have been great during the
past decade. The amps & guitars I am watching carefully are MIChina and MIKorea.
Maybe they will be good, but MIM & MIJ have proven themselves to me.

Hope these ideas help. Toppscore 8)

I have both MIM and MIA Fenders. IMO there is really not much of a difference! The MIMs have com on par with the MIAs. I absolutely love both and will never part with them. I don't care where the origin is as long as it sounds and plays well! In this case Fender Shoots Fender Scores!
ABS :D

I just got a Modern Classic Thinline Deluxe a few days ago and have been playing it a lot. It is "CIC". :)

I really like this guitar, very playable and the P-90's sound great to me. It's attractive and appears well made - seems like a lot of guitar for $400.
