I really dig my new Jim Root Tele and I'm not even a shredder or a Slipknot/Stone Sour fan! I simply looked at the specs and said "I gotta' get me one of these!"

Here's what I like about my new Jim Root sig Tele:

The locking machines - really hold the bends.
The satin neck and neck contours - very comfy - almost seems like the maple is "in the raw" - love it!
The frets are just right - medium jumbo I believe??
The heavy body (mahogany) - I don't normally like this but it seems so right on this guitar and it balances perfectly.
The hard tail bridge - bend till you drop... without the issues normally found on a whammy style bridge. This is the first hardtail electric I've ever owned. I still love my Strats though!
Spraplocks - heck, Fender forgot to mention this in the specs!
The case - Really slick vintage black/white tweed with plush red interior.
The THICK single ply pickguard - looks tough and you'll never have to worry about warpage.
The JR signature on the back of the neck - very low key.
The EMG pickups - the 60 in the neck is extremely clean with excellent fidelity. The 81 in the bridge screams. The output is insane! They are dead quiet as well. This has caused me to rethink and refine some of my presets.
The 12" radius just seems to make the guitar solo much better and easier to play overall.
The flat black paint - very rough - I don't care - this guitar is not about pretty! Also, I don't have to waste time polishing it and worrying about a scratch or a bump! This means more time to play!
Tummy cut also adds to the comfy factor.
"Sleeper" appearance.
Strat syle volume knob - makes it easier to accurately adjust volume.

Here's what I don't like about my new JR Tele:

I was thinking about a black knurled volume knob and then I realized that the strat knob is better because I can see the numbers and tweak the volume more accurately... you'll need to with the power this tele has!

I might have added a Strat style input jack but that's about it! (forget this - it would look really stupid!)

That's really mestup! - we had a club in the late 60s' called "Peaches". It was an old movie theater with a beautiful stage that we converted for rock(?) shows. We had the Stooges, MC5, ASI, Rationals (the original Rats!) and most all the local Michigan bands from that period. What a scream! I remember approaching Wayne Kramer for a chat - what a dip! I remember sitting with Rod Tyner in the club after the show wondering if "this was really a safe place to be right now?" Insane!

God those days were so precious. I can't put my finger on it but I ran into so many famous peops in my life. Page, Townsend, Stockhausen. et. al. I guess I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

This happened to other members o f our band (ASI) too. I remember in the early 70's hanging about with guitarist Eric (after my long hiatus). He opened the trunk of his Vega to get something and here were all these pictures of him and John Lennon scattered all about the trunk. I asked him how this happened and he said that his girlfriend had gotten pushed into a plate glass window at the concert and was badly cut up and that Lennon was so concerned that he had the Eric and his entire party in his room!

It's stories like this that prove what a righteous man Lennon was!

Now THAT's' something to be envious of! 8)

I just bought a new Jim Root telecaster this past sunday off of Ebay. Everything is in proper condition with proper papers, the seller has a great rating and he provided me with enough serial numbers and receipts.

Enjoy! - I quite literally could not put it down and had to "case" it away for a bit!
