I have only seen 2 Tele Thinlines with this color finish. One is at a local music shop; the salesman got it at a vendor show. The other one I found on ebay, and the ebay store selling it said that only 250 of these guitars were made, which makes sense because no website, including the Fender one, has this Tele with the honey blonde finish. Does anyone know anything about this?

I've yet to see that color. I have the "natural" one.

You're two up on me, I have never seen a Honey Blonde '72 Thinline Reissue in any of the guitar stores I visit. My choice came down to the Natural, a 3 Color Sunburst and a Fender Special Run 2 Color Sunburst with a solid white pick guard. I bought the FSR because it felt right and it looked amazing.

I have seen a blonde '72 Thinline with a black guard, and it was alright. I also was fond of the red '69 Thinline they made from the early 90's. But those two pale in comparison to the limited edition Shoreline Gold '72 Deluxes that are floating around.

No, never heard of it. I had a natural for 7 years - was lovely but had to be traded in for something special last autumn. Much missed though, it was a good fit.

found a couple for sale online, but never seen one in stores. Looks sweet. It is usually referred to as Limited Edition.

This guitar would be a great one to relic out!

Hey. I've been wondering the same thing. Only difference is that I bought one. The finish is unreal. The dealer did list it on the receipt as FSR, and I've seen it on a couple of sites....I've also seen it as a 1974 Special run

If you are not a fan of the relic look, nothing I am going to say will probably persuade you otherwise. But since you asked, I just think that this guitar seems to have many of the elements that would lend itself to such an artistic treatment.

It just looks to me like a guitar that would look great with a bit of 'history' on it. The single tone light color of the paint would show a bit of dirt and wear well without standing out to much or fight with more complicated paint job like a sunburst. A bit of scuffing and wear around the F hole would look sweet. Those huge chrome pickups are begging for a bit of patina. And the maple neck would show a bit of oil well. Then you have the contrast of the black pick guard that would show wear and scratches well.

There is just something about any guitar with an F hole in it that seem like they would look better if they looked older, just like antiques look better with a bit of wear on them.

Just got this email from Fender...

That guitar is based on the 72 Telecaster. It’s just made in a different color.

this argument again ...awesome.

Its an artistic choice. people do it to their jeans, cars, furniture, walls, ..the list goes on and on. Everyone knows they are 'faking' it. But authenticity isn't the point. Its aesthetics. Some people prefer things to look stock and clean ... others do not. Its as simple as that.

Some people aren't professional musicians and are never gonna put enough miles on their guitar to give it that 'old pair of jeans' look or they just don't want to wait 20 years for it.

Ok. So Fender did email me again and they said this...
