Depeneds what sort of stuff you want to play and what kind of sound you are after.

A boss Blues Driver or Ibanez tubescreamer are pretty cool for some nice bluesy overdrive sounds.

Also depends what amp you have and what effects it has. If you have a very basic amp you might want to get a Reverb or chorus / delay pedal.

Cheers.

A nice stereo chorus and/or TS9. The nice thing about pedals is that you can get some used ones dirt cheap. I got a near mint DOD Stereo chorus from GC for $20. :D (it's sweet too!)

Yeah blue you can get really into it with pedals. Some people are into multi fx boards, those are pricey but you can get quit a bit of use out of them. A reallllly nice reverb is kinda hard to find IMO. I have turned into a very lazy player and find pressing the pedal to turn them on and off too much work thus I dont use them anymore. For the longest time I used a boss ME-30. It was a multi effects board, it was pretty slick. Going to sites like musiciansfriend is great cause you get to read reviews.

The first thing I'd say to start with would be a compressor. They are made for us Tele players. I leave mine on 100% of the time. Reverb is good, so is delay and chorus. I'm a big fan of phase shifting, and that gives my Tele tone a nice texture. Make sure the devices you try are necessity more that novelty.
