Hello everyone!

First of all, I am very new and unexperienced when talking about pickup wireing and all that stuff. So please forgive me if I sound like a fool.
With that said...

I currently own an American Deluxe Telecaster (with the SCN pups and S-1 switch). I was thinking about replacing the single coil neck pickup with a Seymour Duncan Vintage mini humbucker. (Like the 52 Hot Rod tele)

1st question is: will the change even be worth it if I get a slight humbucker sound when the S-1 switch is on?

2nd question is: If I do switch the neck pickup with the SD mini hum., will it mess up the wiring for the S-1 switch?

I am looking for more of a warmer/fatter tone for my tele in the neck position.

Let me know your thoughts please!

Thanks,

-m

Just replacing it with a hb doesn't make it warmer per se'. It has to be a pickup designed for a warmer sound. I'm not familiar with tele pickups yet. I just bought my first tele 3 days ago.

I'd be interested to here the answer to the s1 switch question too. I really wouldnt think it would interfere. Duncans are 4 wire with 2 wires joined. So youre still dealing with 2 wires at the switch.

You may get some 60 cyl hum if you dont already have noiseless pickups, but then again, if you have an s1 swtch then you probably do have noisless pickups already :D

purchase a lindy fralin vintage blues pickup with flat poles if you want a more mellow sound and also change out the capacitors to paper in oil caps. You can purchase these from Lux capacitors. humbucker will generally only give you a hum cancelling effect .
