The only guitar that I haven't been able to play is the Joe Strummer Tele the shop near my house does not have one and told me I had to special order one. That's the reason I ask. If I had to pick between the road worn and the highway one right now. I would have to go with the highway one.
I really want to play the strummer first though.. 8( errrrrr

I played a Strummer when they first came out and I own a Highway One Tele. The Strummer felt good and had a nice vintage sound but the finish was a bit too distressed for my tastes. It's definitely a unique looking guitar, though.

I'd sum up the two guitars by saying the Strummer would probably be better if you're looking for vintage tones while the Highway One would be better for modern tones. The Highway One's pickups are designed to handle gain and the Greasebucket tone circuit that rolls off treble without adding bass is very cool. So is the maple fretboard with jumbo frets.

It's too bad you can't try out the Strummer to see how it feels and sounds to you. The Baja Tele would also be a good choice in your price range but I also haven't seen any of them in stores lately. Ah well, good luck with whatever guitar you buy.

John

I played a highway one and it felt nice. The road worn felt really nice. I also agree with john.bohn, if you can find a baja tele try it out. Those are very nice.
