I wanted to get a new discussion going on what strings everyone uses on their Teles. What brand and size are you using? I usually stick to 9's on my Tele and 10's on my Gretsch & LP.

I'm going to pick up new strings tomorrow and want to try a new brand. Fender's seem to break on me after only a couple of weeks. A friend suggested 'Dean Markley 2552 Blue Steel' light strings. Anyone use these? How about 'DR Pure Blues'?

I need to branch out and would like to hear from the members here about your favorites.

I've tried all the major brands over the years but I keep coming back to Ernie Ball strings. I have either Super Slinky 9s or Regular Slinky 10s on all the electric guitars I own.

I started off with Fender Bullets (9-42) which came with my Tele. I then got some Daddario 9-46 which I didn't like much.

I now have fitted Fender Super Bullets 10-46 but I'm still using the daddario Low E as the Fender packet only came with 5 strings (!$).

Have just bought a pack of Ernie Ball Regular slinkys to try out soon.

When I had my Strat I tried most brands and ended up settling on Blue Steels which I really liked the feel and tone of.

Cheers.

I have enjoyed Dean Markley Blue Steels (10s) for awhile now. However, I am considering trying to Elixer electric strings next time around.

I just picked up a new set of strings. I went with the DR Pure Blues 10-46. I got 10's because I kept breaking 9's. I haven't really had a chance to test them out yet, but they came highly recommended by a fellow Telel player.

I used DR tite-fit blues 10s for the longest time, but now I keep elixir 10s on all my main electrics. they feel better, have great tone and stay in tune nice. no coating problems and definitely no rusting or grunge. They last forever! worth the extra money.

My guitar shop recommended the Peavey Elements to me. I tried them and they are alright, no problems and less than half the price plus they come with an extra "e" string, which is nice!

I just bought Elixer hybrid lights (or something of that matter) and i like them a lot. ive been using them for a while, and they dont rust for years, really i advise buying them. Also, i own a 25th aniversary Seagull made by Godin acoustic guitar, and i use Godin strings on it, and they sound amazing

I use the Blue Steel's and love them I have .10's on my teles and strat. They seem to last too, but I may not play as hard as a lot of players out there. A thought, if you're bending a lot, use the .9's. It will be easier and the sound won't be that much different.

I was a d'addario guy for like 10 years and this last year, when I bought my first tele early last year, I decided to try a different brand of strings. I heard John Petrucci used the earnie ball strings, with his earnie ball music-man guitar... so I tried those. I bought a set of the hybrid slinky's and I may never go back. They are 09-11-16-26-36-46 and I love them. Before I used strait D'addario 9's. I have also tried the Black DR's. The DR's I found to be "ok" but I have to say they were a smidge over priced.

I use the little silver colored ones that have 3 smooth ones and 3 that are rough feeling when I rub my fingernail on them. They have these little brass circular bits on one end too.

Just kiddding

The stock MIM tele strings were junk, sounded like fur, 9-42's.

I threw on a set of D'Addario 9-42's, luved them. But, they got dull fast and they were not tuning well.

I threw on a set of Ernie Ball 9-42's, luv them much more. They tune extremely well. Clear, creamy, stinky, spanky, twangy, cranky, whatever comes to mind gets translated into sound better with the Ernie Balls thus far.

The D'Addario's sounded a bit...plasticky and sterile as compared to the Ernie Balls.

I'll check-out the Blue Steels next, the Darco series, maybe some elixers. I always come back to Ernie Balls on most guitars. The Ernie Balls just seem to have the most classic and creative tone...I may not even try anything else if it goes that well this week. NO sense doing the rounds again only to come back to Ernie Balls. Also, Ernie Balls play the best the longest. It gives ya the best brown sound to my ear.
