I like the sound of the intro & solo of 'Chattahoochie' (sp?) by Alan Jackson. That is a nice sounding Tele.

For you blues fans, can you say Muddy Waters & Master of the Telecaster, Albert Collins? Early Jeff Beck if you consider an Esquire, Daniel Vickrey of the Counting Crows

Angry Eyes - Loggins & Messina

I just switched from a Strat to an American Std Tele. The Tele is fantastic and I can't put it down.

Definately check out stuff from the late 60's and up through the early 80's by Waylon Jennings.......pretty much everything is played on a Tele. A few nice examples......"Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line", "I'm A Ramblin' Man" and the duet he did with Johnny Cash in '78 called "Ain't No Good Chain Gang". He lets the Tele have it in that one :)

Oh, and anything Johnny Cash did in the 50's. Luther Perkins (his guitar player until 1968) was a really simple player but he had a tone that was what all other Tele's should sound like as far as I'm concerned. He also used slap back quite a bit, which i'm a real sucker for. :D

Definately check out all the Merle Haggard you can too. Roy Nichols was his lead player from Haggard's debut in the mid 60's up until the late 80's sometime. After that, Redd Volkaert joined and that guy's a real bad*ss too.

I have one more recommendation here. Check out Junior Brown. He plays this kind of home made thing thats like a Tele and a lap steel melted together, but MAN does that thing spank! From what i could tell, it looks like it has an American Series Hardtail Strat bridge on it with a set of Lace Sensor pickups.....I'm guessing the red ones cause they sound like they have pretty high output. Check out songs like "Highway Patrol", "Too Many Nights In A Roadhouse", and "Long Walk Back To San Antone".
