I want to know what people think bout these two guitars. I've been searching for a new tele and the store in my area doesn't have the strummer. I don't want to just throw down $1000 a new guitar without playing it first.
Also lets say maybe I want the Strummer or the Road Worn without the relic aspect to it. What guitars do I look for? There are just so many fenders out there and I don't know a lot about the different types.

Thanks everyone on here has been a great help so far and it's fun talking bout these things.

Either of those two are fine guitars, but the Strummer is a little to far gone in the relic department for my taste. I think the Road worn looks a bit nicer. If you want a guitar that looks new with similar styling look into the Classic Series MIM guitars or the Classic Players MIM guitars.

The Strummer is a Classic Series 60's, but with that (IMO) horrible finish. It was too particular to Joe, and to me, not appealing anyway. Being the owner of a Classic 60's Tele, its a very decent guitar, I just don't like the bridge pickup on it (ice-picky) So I changed that. I wouldn't pay more for the "Strummer finish".

The RW's have supposedly more decent pickups (Tex-Mex), though very middy to me opinion. The hardware and electronics is just the same of the Classic 50's and 60's.

The Classics and Strummer have the vintage fretboard radius and small frets (that some people prefer) the RWs have the vintage radiused fretboard but with taller 6105 frets. You should really try both first, if you can. I don't think theres much difference in neck shape.

The great stuff about the RWs is the body that is 100% nitro. I really don't mind the little relic they have. They have some paint missing and cracks that will increase with time. That won't happen to the Strummer. I wish they offered a NOS option of the RW.. who knows in the future...
