I have a tele that was made in March of '52, and is in great condition, and I play it every day.
It has a great history behind it and where its been.
I would like to get it appraised by someone.
Help, I live in Garland Texas.

wait, let me get this straight, you have a 52 tele (one of the first years they were made) in good shape? eh, i don't think its worth much, you can send it to me  in all seriousness i think it may be well over a few thousand dollars depending on where you sell it

Wow, sounds sweet. A couple thousand easy but you need to find a vintage guitar shop to really get it appraised. You could always post it on Ebay with a RIDICULOUSLY high reserve price like $100,000.00 and see what people bid up to for it.

That will tell you what it is acutally worth. You know what I mean? The actual monetary value of any object is what people are willing to pay for it, not what some book or dealer says it is. heck a vintage guitar dealer could tell you that it's worth $17,000, but if no one in the real world (including the dealer) is willing to pay that much for it . . . then it ain't worth $17k is it.

Yes value is what someone is willing to pay. The Blue Book value on a 52 Tele goes from 55,000. for Mint 100% down to 17,000. for Good 60% I think if it is as good as you said you could get a fair amount of money if you were to sell from someone. :)

Contact Grung Guitars in Nashville for an appraisal. They are the standard by which all appraisals are judged. In other words they are the premier guitar Appraisal service in the world.

I was reading this topic and thought of Gruhn's thenthe last pot you said it.

Gruhn is probably the most respected vintage dealer in the USA. Hey you may even want to go to "Antique's Roadshow" if it's near by.

Prices on 51-54 Blackguard Tele's are volitle, with the economy tanking it may not be worth what they were a couple years ago. especially with shrinking and no incomes of many people
