there's just something that the black guard seems to bring out in the looks...black it is. I have one coming in a couple of days. Funny thing is, the case I bought and the pick guard will likely be here before the guitar gets here

I want a black bakelite pickguard for my Baja Tele (desert sand), looks good with the white one but maybe black looks better.
I'll go for a plastic black pickguard first though.

My Esquire should be here Friday, just in time to put some new strings on it, throw on the black guard and go gig Saturday night...whooo hoo! We got a call to fill in for a band this weekend so I'll get to play it all night long. I hope my old 52 ri doesn't get too jealous

well here is the Esquire...I gigged it Saturday night and couldn't put it down. Wow! What a guitar. It's definitely got some bite for sure. It's a bit brighter than my 52 ri (in the pic as well). It will take some getting used to as far as dialing in the right amount of tone, volume etc. It plays like butter and has a much chunklier neck than the 52 ri as well. My 52 ri is an 83 modle and they had super skinny necks, which I don't mind either. Have a peek

I finally bought an Esquire, although this one isn't really a "proper" one, as it has a concealed neck pickup...

It has a 4 position switch, which gives you in and out of phase double pickups in positions 2 & 3. 8)

Great playing guitar.

It is an MIJ-CIJ partscaster.

Neck from MIJ Esquire and body from a CIJ '62RI Telecaster. Gold hardware and electronics were all new.
