I am buying a TELECASTER to use as a project guitar. It is a SQUIRE TELECASTER LIMITED EDITION BUTTERSCOTCH BLONDE. I am going to relic it, put a on a BIGSBY tremelo, some nice pickups and stain the neck. I can't wait to get started. This is a picture of a guitar just like it.[img][/img]

Sounds like a great project. Make sure you post up some before and after shots.

Honestly.. I wouldn't relic it. Won't look good in a poly finished guitar :? Staining the neck and the Bigsby will be cool mods 8) Post some pictures when you have it done :)

I hope you have fun!

I decided to strip the neck and stained it more vintage honey yellow, then put a gloss over that. The body will stay the same except for the BIGSBY and floating bridge. I have decided not to relic it. Well wish me luck.

Wow, sounds cool. I've got a bigsby on my '66. Very cool mod.

Sounds cool. Let us know how the Bigsby conversion goes...

I don't know if this would be an issue or not, but there is a chance the Bigsby spacing at the bridge (from E to E) may be different than the Squier bridge spacing...like I said, don't know if that will affect your project, but something to keep in mind.

Also, the Bigsby bridge height may be different that the Tele Bridge height, and I just mention this because I recall seeing a Tele with a Bigsby conversion where they had to route the top of the body a fraction of an inch in the shape of the Bigsby bridge in order for the strings to be at the correct height, or perhaps shim the neck up to the right height.

If you have already considered these issues, cool...but if not, I would look into these things.

Here are some links to check out:

Thanks for the links, the TELECASTER project is awesome. The spacing of the bridge should be o.k., I may need to shim the neck though.

All the mods you plan for the Guit sound great but would absoultly make sure you'll be ok with the results because Poly does not relic well. I have MIM poly that has a chip and all I have to say is if thats what I have to look forward to then it ain't going to be pretty.
