Sorry all, I'm new to Fenders and they confuse the h*ll out of me. :)
If you were to draw a comparison with a Les Paul, Gibson's top of the line model is the '59 or '60 Les Paul. What's Fender's equivalent (non aged) top of the line Tele and is there one just below it? Such as a '58 LP...although all three guitars are essentially the same, the price can vary by up to #2,000.

Thank you!!

Not counting the "Masterbuilts" and "Limited Editions" and so on, to me, it's the Custom Shop Nocaster NOS (non-relic model) The relic model is 500,00US$ more or so for some scratches, rust and a neck tint.

If you're talking about regular production, the "top of the line" would be the American Deluxe. Just below that would be the American Standard. Above those you're getting into the custom shop models.

Hot Rods then, cos they are more expensive than the Deluxe. :D

There isn't really a "top" one in the regular line, despite de pricing issue. Depends on what you like: the vintage styling or modern styling and the different bridge-pickup combos etc.

I don't own one YET......but I'll have to say the 52 American Vintage Re-Issue.

Going along with Iago's comment, I could argue that the American Standard is the best 2009 interpretation of the Tele spirit and concept. The 52 and other vintage series do a terrific job of sounding like Teles "were" but the AmStd is what they "are" -- not counting the Deluxe and hot rod models.
