What have people heard about the Road Worn Teles. I ordered one but am primarily an acoustic player. I own a 69 Thinline, a 52 Black Plate, and a 72 Custom, they are all Mexican Re-Issues. I like them all but seldom play them. I like the looks of the Road Worn so that's why I bought one. Any info will be appreciated.

Hi Benner,
I don't have any personal experience with the road worn models, but I've seen a few threads in here with regard to them. Every comment was very positive, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It might be worthwhile searching this forum, for the road worn threads. Don't forget to post a pic or two when you get her, welcome to the forum.

All that counts is that you like it. All I know about them is that they are made in Mexico, like my treasured Baja Tele. I like my Baja because it looks and feels retro, but has tonal choices w/ the S-1 switch. I think I would like a Thinline too. I think I would like my own roadworn scratches through experiences and mishaps, but maybe Fender is acknowledging that urethane finishes are difficult to show wear and tear.

My question is if you rarely play them, why get another?

I am a frontman and rythm guitar player. I play a Gibson SST on stage. I have always wanted to be a lead player as well, and have purchased Learn and Master Guitar by Steve Krenz. It's a real good course. Have always wanted a Tele that looks beat up and plays well. It drives me nuts when I mark something so a Road Worn fits the bill and is the right price.

I haven't been too impressed with the Road Worn series, or just what I have seen of them, as I haven't had a chance to actually see one in person. One thing that I find disturbing is that for a $950 price range guitar, I was thinking Fender would be kind enough to include a case with the guitar, HOWEVER, I just noticed yesterday that for a $950 you only get a Deluxe Gig Bag...

I love the looks of the road worn Tele...... however the ones I saw at 2
Guitar Centers by me both had frets slightly protruding from the fretboard.
I know it's not the end of the world  but I like everything to be just the way I like it from the get go. I too have a Baja Tele which I LOVE. I strongly suggest to try both before deciding which to get !!! Have fun !! :D

i've played the road worn tele at guitar center... and i have to say im impressed. Its nice and used so you dont have to break it in but sounds like a brand new tele.

I've tried a road worn telecaster this week end.
I was surprised by its sound...great! Goop choice of pick up!
But I was a bit deceived by the frets. I found them too "high" which make the play a bit unpleasant.

Im sure the teles feel and sound great but I have an issue I cant get over.... buying a "pre worn" guitar to me feels like "pre faded" jeans..... I would want to put the dings and nicks in it myself.

I tried some of the Road-worn series a couple of weeks ago. They played about like a typical MIM Strat or Tele. The relicing looked okay, except on the neck. Just looked obviously done, IMO.

I would not mind having one, but at nearly $1000 with no case, I'll pass. Let us know how yours is when you get it, though.

I played one at guitar center the other day. (I'm looking for a new tele) I found the frets do stick up a lot more than other guitars I've played. It is pretty damn rough on your fingers when moving down the fretboard. I also found the pickguard is sticking up in the middle right where you play the damn thing. When playing it can get in the way. You can also see it in the pics they have on this site. It did sound nice though I still want to play the Strummer before I make my buy. They didn't have that guitar at the shop in my area.....
