Hello. I think you hit "new post" instead of "reply". Speaking of "Twang" I am thinking of getting a tele for my birthday and I too would like "maximum" twang so I have to ask. Would I get this with an Esquire or a Telecaster? Then would a rosewood fretboard or maple?

Yes, I believe he tried to reply another post...

My recipe is fresh slim strings (10s or 9s) and a tube amp (my favorites are the "blackface" Fenders). And snap those strings! 8) Tele or Esquire, maple or rosewood, alder or ash body doesn't matter. what may is the kind of saddles (steel, brass etc), bridge material and thickness, I didn't have time yet to mess with those, but the regular vintage Fender bridge is just fine.

I can't speak for the Esquire, but I just got a new AmStd Tele 3 days ago and so far, that's a nice twang machine -- very classic Fender sound. This Tele has the maple fretboard.

I also have a Hwy1 (2002), rosewood, and that's fairly muted. I wouldn't say it's the best for classic country but I do use it for some blues and jazz.

My other two Teles are a 69 Repro MIM Thinline and a 72 Repro Thinline. OF those two, the 60 with the single coils has the most twang. So to put them in order from Twang to moonlit evening with wine and girlfriend:

- AmStd Tele (2008 model), maple
- 69 Repro Thinline, rosewood (but single coil pups)
- 72 Thinline, rosewood
- Hwy1, rosewood -- incredibly, the least classic-like of my Teles!

Amps: SCXD, Super 210, Line6 DuoVerb
