I just bought an American Ash Deluxe Tele from a pretty reputable online dealer and I know that they usually come with a cable, a strap and straplocks in the case. I got the hang tags and a key for the case and that's it.

I asked them about it and sure enough only the case was listed on their website, but I know for fact that these items do come with this particular guitar. It's not only listed on the Fender website, but I have a friend who bought one from GC and it came with the stuff in question.

They also tried to tell me that my friend must have ordered directly from Fender which I know is not only wrong, but the Fender FAQ clearly states that they don't sell direct to the public.

Am I completely wrong here or did they mess up or even worse did they take my stuff and resell it? I know that some dealers have done that with cases themselves in the past.

Welcome!

I can tell you that when I bought my Am Dlx Tele back in October (in person from GC), it came with a cable, strap, and strap locks in the case (along with the manual, stickers, and all the tags). I'm afraid you were ripped off my friend.

Maybe you can complain directly to Fender?

When I bought my 2001 Am Standard from a local dealer all I got was the case and guitar...had to beg for a cord but all they'd give me was a hand full of picks!

Yeah, that's different though, I know all about trying to get something tossed in there to sweeten the deal, but this is the link from Fender's spec sheet and near the bottom it lists the accessories:

http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 101702750#

I got an email this morning; we'll see if I am imagining things or not I suppose.

If the online dealer is truly "reputable" you shouldn't have a problem getting what's missing.

I got an American Deluxe Ash Telecaster for Christmas (from GC) and my guitar came with MOST of the goodies. It looks like I didn't get the straplocks...

I noticed that the strap buttons on the guitar looks like the Schaller strap lock hardware and I was looking for a way to purchase just the strap hardware but I've only found the complete kits. Maybe I should unroll the strap that came with my Tele to see if these are hidden away somewhere!

Mine were sealed in a little plastic bag.

It really bothers me that you guys were missing things - it sure degrades the experience. Maybe Fender can do something for you if you ask?

I see case candy all the time on eBay, if your seller was not reputable, then they may have put it on there to get some cash...

My 52 reissue and Hwy 1 teles both came with all case candy, plus the local dealer through in extra strings and picks. However, I ordered an Esquire from MF "scratch and dent" sale and it had nothing except a gig bag inside a severly damaged cardboard box, 2 little pieces of newspaper packing and the neck of the guitar sticking out of a hole in the box. No hang tags, strap, nothing else. Good thing all Fenders are built like tanks. A little setup and it's fine, but the onlline merchant only offered to let me return it for credit.
You should have gotten all of the items listed on Fender website!

It may be because I was young and naive, but when I purchased my brand new Tele in 1994 all I got was a Tele. I didn't get a case, strap or anything. Maybe they didn't offer it back then.

You'll get all the candy when you buy American made, not usually when you buy a foreign made though. I own both but only the American Standard's came with the hard case and candy...
