After a lifetime of playing strats and The Shadows type music, I've bought a MIM tele because I like listening to country music and the tele is what most country players seems to have.

I'm going to try and learn some country type licks, what kind of set up, amp, effects, settings etc do tele/county music players use?

Regards....Mike

I've seen many of the newer players using tricked out Strats playing country, but the Tele is the traditional guitar to have that "twang" sound for country pickin'

I'd suggest a Tele with a Pro Reverb and a compressor, delay and booster pedal. If you really want to go all out, get a b-bender and a volume pedal for "steel"-like sounds.

tele with either a fender deluxe, or a vox ac30. put fralin pu's in the tele. get a keeley compressor,a nice delay, tube screamer, tremelo, and a volume pedal. and you will be set

I too like the country sound, I found the sound that I like, I play an American Tele and HWY1 thru a 65 Twin Reverb R/I and a Blues Junior. No pedals, except for a boss chromatic tuner. I find I can get the country sound I like with a guitar, cable & amp. Of course, this is just my opinion, you'll have to experiment with it all. good luck.

to get a true vintage don rich or roy nichols sound go with a standard tele in to a twin. If you like the more modern brad paisley tele sound, then look to my earlier post. Brad plays vox ac30's and dr. z's based on vox ac30's as well as a trainwreck and a dr. z wreck based on the trainwreck.

B-Bender? Yeah. Go for it. I want one, too. Volume pedal? Useful, but the cool trick is to swell with your pinky. Tele knobs have knurl for a reason. Swell the tone knob, too. Some even reverse the control plate to get the knobs within easy grabbing distance. Like me, for example.

Also flip the controll plate so the volume is closer, it makes it alot easier
