wondering how to eliminate the scratchy noise i get when the tele is plugged in and i run a finger across the pick guard, sounds like static electricity. could my jam space be too dry? i noticed that my g&l sometimes does the same thing. not a major problem, but very annoying!

I have heard a variety of things, so here's a few for you to try out:
--Rub a dryer sheet over the pickguard, as dryer sheets in your laundry affect static cling, and this is basically what it is.
--I have heard about people putting the dryer sheet under the pickguard.
--I have also heard putting shielding tape on the backside of the pickguard helps.
--Some say for the shielding to be effective on the back of the PG, it needs to be grounded.

Also, in the winter months, when this is primarily an issue, try to minimize touching the pickguard if you don't have to, because a lot of times static energy from you (which might not even be noticeable to you) discharges into the PG when you touch it.
