I just bought a new Fender Telecaster Deluxe Classic Series. I was wondering about how to keep the finish in nice shape. Should I get one of those polishing kits at the local dealer or does a regular towel or rag work? Also the Humbuckers on it get fingerprints on them. What should I do to get those off? 8) 8) 8)

As you're no doubt aware, there are hundreds of guitar cleaning products on the market. I can only suggest what works for me, and has done for the past few years. " The Ultimate Guitar Care Collection" made for Fender by Meguiars.
1. Swirl & Haze Remover.
2. Polish & Conditioner.
3. Mist & Wipe (finish enhancer).
4. Fretboard Conditioner.
5. Chrome & Brass Cleaner/Polish.
Also included in the box is a couple of Meguirs sponge appliers, and a micro fibre finishing cloth. I've used other products, planet waves, dunlop, etc etc. This stuff does a great job, and it's all in one box.

Tell you what Tomk62, for a man in to the blues you sure picked the right guitar. I have the same Tele as you, I bought her intending to make some serious noise  I got her home, plugged her in to the Blues Jnr I got with her. All I could play was bluesy stuff, I swear  I sat here wondering what was going on, I wanted to rock out. Yet all I could do was play this amazing blues, which set me off on a little journey here. Re- discovering Clapton, The Yardbirds, the list is becoming endless. And it's all thanks to this guitar

I agree: great products and well worthing having on hand. Also, anytime you just want to give your guitar a quick clean, a soft cloth and a little spit works wonders. Seriously: even Dan Erlewine recommends this method.

If its still pretty new, you can always just keep it in a case to keep dust and stuff from getting on it...

I always re-string new guitars cause you never know how long the strings have been on there, and if it on the showroom floor of a store, definitely change them strings cause you just don't know how many times people may have walked in on their lunch break after hitting the pizza buffet to try out or play a guitar...Thats pepperoni dust dude...

Just joking about the pepperoni dust...
