There is no best when it comes to the Tele and Strat. Your choice should depend on the feel and sound of the guitar.

Like TC said, get both if you can afford it. Both are unique in sound... BUT try both of them out, especially the various models. Feel and comfort are most important... too heavy or light... fret size, etc. are very important.

you can't really call either the "best", because they are both great guitars that suit different playing styles... play as many as you can in the price range you have and one should probably stand out to you... if you like it buy it

For me, there are 3 electric guitars you need to cover all of the bases.

Strat Single Coil Style
Tele Single Coil with it's unique Bridge
LP Humbucker Style Guitar

Having said that, the AmDeluxe Strat probably covers more bases
than any of them. The S1 switch allow for humbucker like tones and
single coil tones.

So a Strat would be the first of the trio IMHO. But it really all depends
on the music and style you like.

I love my AmDeluxe Strat!

Hope this helps.

Feel and comfort and weight and color and what kind of case it comes in and who plays one and how many chicks will jump into your car if you play it are the worst reasons to buy a guitar.

Two words: tone, then preference.

That being said, you have to know what you want to do with it, and how each could best serve the need. My experience with having owned both was that the five position Strat was versatile and sweet, but the Tele spoke to me the first time I laid hands on it.

I identify with the "old" old-school, and the prestige of the Tele being THE ONE as far as solid bodies go, but these are never considerations when I'm looking for an instrutment. It's always tone first, and this goes along with the normal caveat that tone comes from the fingers, not the board.

Advice (if it's wanted)? A/B them until one of them "becomes" yours. Don't buy one until one of them really speaks to you, and then you'll know.

the are both great guitars but i would recommend the tele it has a hotter tone vs the strat's more versatile sound and strats have become pretty boring guitars since everyone owns one so as a n owner of both i dsy go eith the tele

All you need is one of these....

Image

This is a new model Crafted In Japan, Thinline Tele that has 3 pickups (to give you the Strat "quack" in positions 2 & 4, Bridge single coil in position 1, Gibson style HB neck in position 5 and (wait for it) Bridge and Neck in position 3 (not the middle by itself)

Talk about versatile! 8)

I havn't played tele much, but if you are new and this is your first guitar i would recommend the strat. Tom morello ( audioslave, RATM as you mentioned) plays a stratocaster.. The strat is also more versitle in my opinion...

Im not saying that strats are any better than teles, but for first buyers i would recomment strat!

Both guitars are great (i think) it depends by flavours and situations.
But Remember Tele is an "hot one",check-out for his huge output and gain!

I play an American Tele & a MIM Tele, because when I started playing, I liked Roy Buchanan and Luther Perkins, they played teles and I wanted to be like them. And now I'm a TELE guy all the way - just my personal preference. I recently purchased an American Strat, thinking I just had to have one, it was a fine guitar, but it just didn't 'speak' to me, so I had to depart with it. I'll be purchasing the Hotrod Tele soon. In short - THEY BOTH ARE AWESOME GUITARS ! ! ! Play them both before buying. Good Luck. Image[/img]
