Can someone explain what "parallel" and "in series actually mean? Also, what is meant by "out of phase"? I know it sounds more hollow, but what does it actually do? Thank you guys so much.

Also, are there any major flaws with the Baja Tele? I've heard that the pickguard sometimes comes loose or something. Thanks again.

in circuitry, parallel and series are different ways to wire components. Series means that the pickups are wired one after the other in a single unbroken circuit (think links in a chain). Parallel means they are independent of one another and the signal goes through each separately then joins back together for the final signal. I wish I could draw a diagram, but this might do:http://personal.tcu.edu/~dingram/phys10163/ct/ct16.gif. The one on the left is parallel, the one on the right is series. Out of phase means that one of the pickups has the signal running the other way through it. Essentially, the signal is opposite and because the pickups have different phases, they interfere and produce that hollow almost tinny sound. Hopefully this helps.

YES! You won't be disappointed. The pickguard is a 1952 single ply plastic. Mine has warped a bit, but is easily fixed. Either, during a string change, you can reseat the guard or change it to a 3-ply version.

You don't need to change strings switching to another pickguard.
Btw, i'm very pleased with my Baja Tele.
The only flaw? you can see the bridge pickup cavity on either side
of the bridge plate, minor though lol.

I think Baja will be my first tele very very soon. Simple but yet so many sounds ... FANTASTIC. Can i change the pickguard to a 3-ply one ? Do I have to heve serious skills to dou it or is it simple ? I loike the looks of 1-ply but it gets bad very easily so 3-ply is better IMHO.
Greetings from Greece...

I haven't changed my pickguard, but I just saw a 5-hole, 3-ply, without screw adjustment holes for a Baja pickguard here:

If you can't do it, a guitar shop could assist.

My tele also has a 1 ply pickguard that warped a bit. I just use some pieces of double-sided adhesive tape right under the spot.
