Could anybody tell me what makes a Deluxe Telecaster bridge different from an American Standard bridge? I can see that the saddle adjustment screws are offset on the Deluxe, but what else is different? The American Standard looks the same as the Mexican, are they? I’m just thinking about changing my bridge and I’m wondering if I should go with a Deluxe or aftermarket. There is a lot to choose from and I don’t want to throw money away on a bridge that is basically the same as the AM Standard. What kind is used on Custom Shops?

Hi,

looking at the current pics and specs, the deluxe has the modern style of saddles (i have these on my 90's strat and were on my CIJ TL52 SPL tele) and the standard uses the vintage style bent metal type. (I have these on my 80's strat)

there are suposed to be pros and cons to both setups.

Personally I think teles have more teleness when they have the true vintage brass barells. To me they have a brigher sound and a better sustain.

I bought a fender ashtray style brisge for my CIJ and bought some aftermarket compensated saddles. I much prefer the feel of this setup.

although, to be honest I have not really noticed that much of difference with compensated vs non compensated saddles (IMHO).

Cheers

BMF

I thought I might try the Wilkinson’s bridge. They seem to be the aftermarket bridge to get. They are cheap enough to give a try anyway.
