I got lucky. If it were up to my wife we would buy every guitar I picked up. Of the eight guitars I own, I have only bought two of them. The rest were gifts.

Now that is way too cool! Keep treating that classy lady well.

I just wish I could have as many women as I have guitars.
I used the shoe analogy, and the answer was "I buy different shoes to match different outfits". I said then I need different guitars for different outfits!

Well, let's just say she still has more shoes than I have guitars, and I still need a guitar to match my favorite shirt!

Funny story that relates to the TELE forum as well as women not understanding our need for more guitars!

Back around Christmas time, my g/f and I was at a buddy of mines shop - he deals in serious vintage stuff - I was jokingly asking him to explain to my g/f why we like guitars, why we collect them, and to try to show her how the value of these guitars will sometimes blow ya away - I said, show her something with some value - well, he then says to her, here hold this while I open this case - he hands her a tele that he had sitting in his office - she just holds it, and asks me about the guitar while he is opening cases - it just so happened that the guitar he handed her to hold was a completely original '52 tele, natural finish - he said, well, just to give ya an idea, that thing you are holding is worth about as much as an average fellow's home!! Her jaw just dropped, and she now understands a little more!

I'm happily divorced so I don't have that problem anymore. When I was married "I didn't need (or have time for) anything like that" That's why I'm divorced. My last girlfriend started telling me what to do with my money and we weren't engaged or living together. Kicked her to the curb too!8)

I have the perfect answer. I buy guitars to match the different outfits I wear on stage. I always ask, how does this one look with this outfit? It never fails. Only problem I don't do any dress changes on stage, so I have to use that specific guitar for that gig. Another thing, I can't wear a Fender shirt when I am playing a Martin and vice versa. No cross dressing allowed! If for some reason I am using an electric & Acoustic, I have to wear neutral non guitar logo shirt.

There are much more expensive hobbies than guitars. She's just lucky I don't build the race car I want to build!

Everytime I hear "When did you get that? How much did it cost."

I reply "I'm just borrowing it from a friend". hee hee Like forever.

This keeps the missus off my back long enough for her to forget about it.

I have enough to pull out at different times to confuse her. I love it.

I have 3 high end Strats, 2 midrange Strats, 2 Tele's. = 7 and still counting.

My lust and love affair for Fender products is a strong addiction.

I agree. That's the way it should be.
