I'm a woman...a woman with 2 Telecasters, 1 LP, 2 Classicals, and 5 Strats.

I feel you...GAS affects us all. :)

Hey mvines,
You have a very nice stable already. To go beyond just sit down and ask your marital unit about her hobbies, desires and "stuff" that might blow her skirt up. (Important part here) Show interest, ask questions, help her devise a plan to feed HER GAS. After that brother you are home-free.
Hope this helps!

With women it's always shoes and clothes. They think it's justifiable because those things are "necessities," whereas your guitars are "luxuries." But it's really the same thing.

Yea,
My wife just shakes her head when she sees a new guitar. Fortunately for me I've traded guitars I'm no longer using to get my sweet MIM Tele and upgraded Strat!

When ever I spend over 500. it seem to cost me a least 200. on something for the Wife. As Rumpole says "She who must be obeyed"

My wife is great.
:P
But I only buy the guitars I really want.

Hot-Rodded American Telecaster, 5-way switch with coil-tapped humbuckers (Fender and Seymour-Duncan)
American Stratocaster 1980 with Vintage Noiseless
Gibson Les Paul w/498T 496T
Line 6 Variax 700 gold-top

But, if guitars are handed out as part of the new bailout plan, I'll ask for 1 each:

Gibson ES-175 or L5 for swing.
Rickenbacker 360 (6- and 12-stringers)
Epiphone Casino with P90s
A Gibson SG supreme.

It's like that with my Mom. I don't think I'm going to be able to get any more guitars until I'm out of the house, unless I pay for it myself. On the plus side, now that I can't get any more guitars I can focus on modifying the ones I have. :)

i bet you've heard the words 'but you can only play one at a time,' havent you.

I sure have. I've also heard "they all sound the same to me".

Im in the same boat as you. I am only on my second guitar and she thinks I have to many.

Yeah... my wife don't get it either. She saw an article about the price of old guitars. She said that maybe I should sell my old Tele. I told her that if I ever did get a big offer for it, I'd just spend it all on more guitars...

When my GF ask me, "how many guitars do you need?" My answer is, "I don't know. How many are there?"

There is a benefit to owning 12+ guitars at any one time though. It's actually cheaper when I want a new one, I can just sell off one or two. It's a self perpetuating addiction :D

So true My GF doesn't understand why I have a Tele, Esquire. I have a acoustic as well but to her it's different. The Tele and Esquire on the other hand to her they are the same guitar eventhough one only has one pickup and sound so different then the Tele. Now that I want another one she just doesn't understand why. And yet again I keep telling her that they don't all sound the same.
