Sorry if this topic has been brought up before, but how about any plans for Fender to release a version of the Tele George uses on the rooftop of Apple?

Seems a sure hit to me. Or is it even possible to get one made?

Thanks,
Joe

The link was very helpful, but not sure from the photos if that is exactly what Harrison was using. But I too would be interested in a tele like George's!

Dear J' & OW,

Here's a link to George's original Telecaster from the "Let it Be" sessions:
http://www.juliensauctions.com/auctions ... uitar.html

There is also a great Blog:
http://www.beatlesgear.com/and a massice recent publication on "The Beatles Gear":
http://books.google.com.au/books?id=Eo7 ... &ct=result
and the related discussion at the Telecaster Forum [TDPRI]:
http://www.tdpri.com/forum/archive/inde ... 03125.html

So vote me 'in' ...I'm interested in seeing Fender reproduce some authentic Harrison memorabilia in the form of the "Let it Be" Telecaster!

Best wishes,
:-R

Hi OW',

It appears that we were 2 years too late!:

Although, I've dug through the CS files there's no archived records? If someone at Fender actually reads our posts (?) ...I hope that they get the message that this is definitely an option that we'd like to see ...continued!

I might check if Squire/ Fender do a version?

Kind Regards,
:-R

Hi OW',

This is the nearest thing I could find that Squier have released (under the Standard banner) that is similar to the George Harrison Telecaster, ...but it's no longer in their current issues (!).

The headstock is (apparently) maple:

Hi Guys,

I forgot to mention that the Squier doesn't have the old-style Telecaster features, such as:

"...The bridge has three adjustable saddles, with strings doubled up on each. The guitar quickly gained a following, and soon other, more established guitar companies (such as Gibson, whose Les Paul model was introduced in 1952; and later Gretsch, Rickenbacker, and others) began working on wooden solid-body production models of their own. A large chromed cover, often called the "ashtray", was fitted over the bridge for improved grounding, but this is rarely seen as most players find it impedes their style."

I think Fender Custom Shop has replicated the Rosewood Tele that George played on the roof. It went for 3500 to 4K. You can also get a japanese edition. Check ebay. Beware, there is also a basswood body with rosewood veneers. The real deal, has a rosewood sandwich with maple in between the rosewood.
