Hi guys,

I know nothing about Telecasters and have only played one...but I want one! It was an '08 American Standard. It was great but the neck was identical to my '08 American Strat. I would like a neck that feels a little different, if possible.

I've looked at them online and the Vintage caught my eye. Essentially, I'm looking for a traditional type of Telecaster. To me that means two single coil pickups. I don't want a humbucker.

I'd love to see some pics of yours and also some feed back from current and past owners. Also, is there something else in that price range that I should look into?

Cheers!

Like I need an excuse to post pictures!

I've only had it a few weeks but I'm made up with it. I don't think you'll find a more traditional Tele; it's an exact replica of the original '52. I know some people aren't too keen on the 3 saddle bridge and others find the neck a bit on the chunky side but I wouldn't change a thing!

Let me know if you need any more info and I'll do my best to help you out.

I think you should try every Fender Tele out there before going for the 52 RI. They have a fairly clubbier neck that you may love or hate. Try the Classic series Teles and the Baja too.

I love my '52 reissue. Damn fine guitar! I put Glendale compensated brass saddle on it, everything else is stock. Love the neck pickup tone, and the bridge pickup can cut through any mix.

Clubby is good! I have a few historic Gibsons I love the fat necks necks on them.
I looked around a bit and read that these '52s have a poly finish coated in nitro. I don't know if that bothers me...

I also dig the fat necks, but I'm well aware some people just cant get used to them. Regarding the finish, yes, you only get 100% nitro if you get a Custom Shop or Road Worn (though the necks are urethane). I'm not even sure if the American Vintage Thin-Skins 52's and the others are 100% nitro on the body. Anyone?

Hello R9,

Those 52 reissues are tops on my A list
for affordable telecasters, also, take a
look at the G.E. Smith with a substantial
piece of lumber for the neck it's got the
largest of todays regular production tel's.

Cheers.

Great, thanks guys! One more question for the guys that own one...and this one might be a doosie!
What are some of the common complains/issues with this guitar? Anything you can think of, tuning, intonation...anything. Thanks again!!

All I know is, the 52 American Vintage Tele is my next purchase. I played one at GC, through both amps that I have and WOW!!!! What an awesome Tele. I don't know how anyone could not like it.
Good Luck and keep us posted on your quest for a tele.
