I recently finished my second Tele mod. Its most salient feature is a mini-toggle (on-off-on) which controls the volume and tone as follows: up= standard volume and tone behavior, mid= tone bypass, down= bypass of both volume and tone. Due to my last name, I’ve entitled this the “Bals-To-The-Wals” mod. The 3way pu selector was rewired to provide bridge, both-in-series, or neck. The mod would work with a 4way selector, or any other guitar with a master volume and a master tone. The aftermarket control plate was reversed to make the vol and B2TW toggle more easily reachable. My first mod was getting five settings from a strat switch in my MIJ Squier Tele.

I typically roll off some volume and some tone, let's say to 8 and 7. Whatever pickup(s) go from the selector, the UP plays v=8 and t=7. The MID plays v=8 and t=10, and the DN plays v=10 and t=10. Returning to UP provides the original settings, since no pot settings were changed. At my meager skill level, less knob-twiddling with my right hand translates to more concentration on my left hand. It also helps to keep me from getting overly loud within a song. But when I solo, I can really tell UP from DN. The best part is that it works with any pickup(s) selected. It's awesome with the neck-bridge pu's in series, btw.
