Currently have a Mexican Strat in Satin Red. Like the sound and the feel, but am interested in a Tele as a good friend, and former teacher, has one and I love the sound. I believe his is American 70's vintage, but don't know the specifics. I am very amateur and only play for my own enjoyment as a hobby, so I don't have a lot of money to spend.
I've sampled some Teles in local stores and like the Highway 1 models---sound, feel, and price.
Question is: Does anyone have any strong feelings from personal experience, positive or negative, about the Highway 1 models?
I have a Fender Stage 160 amp---solid state, but does the job for my hobby.

I don't have any personal experience with the HWY1, if you do a quick search in here, you will find some great debates on the pro's and cons. Good luck with your decision dude.

It's a great guitar. I thought I wanted one, but when I sat down and compared it side-by-side with the American Deluxe, I totally fell in love with the Deluxe.

The key is to do your own comparison. If you like it, you can't go wrong.

Let us know what you decide!

I own both a Higway One and a American Standard.. and i prefer wayyy much my AM Standard. The finish on my HW1 wears out really quickly, it's sound great but the quality is not the same. But it's still an awsome guitar at a great price, but i would suggest to try the AM standard and compare it... i don't know how much more it is... maybe 250$ but it's worth it (and you get a sweet hardshell case with)

Which to me is a big plus considering the cost of a good hardshell case!

I love the sound of my 02 Hwy 1 -- not the classic Tele twang but somewhat muted and jazzy. The feel is a bit more solid than the MIMs I have and not quite as elegant as the AmStd due to arrive this coming Monday, but the tone is unique to it.

A have a "few" guitars to choose from but when I just can't decide, I'd say that 8 times out of 10, I reach for the Hwy 1. It's the best covers-all-bases tone I have.

Since you already have MIM telecaster... upgrading to a Highway one is not really a big change, i played both... and i don't see that big of a difference. Even if you "only" play as a hobby (like i do haha) doesn't mean you don't diserve an awsome strat!

Getting a tele with a roled edge neck and nitro finish for 250-300 cheaper is not a bad choice. You really have to decide on what your fret size preference is, because the H1s have jumbo's. My Tele is a combintation of a badly abused MIM body, a Highway one neck, SCN PU's, 4 way switching, and fender schaller locking tuners, and the only thing that made it feel like a different guitar is that neck. Ultimately your choice will land a Tele in your hands, so it is all good!

I just got an American Highway One Telecaster for Christmas and I couldn´t be happier.

This is my first American guitar and I am so glad it´s a Fender. I was surprised by it´s price and when I found one in Mexico I just had to get it. I paid around 650 USD.

I was looking for a great clean tone and now I am using this Tele along with a Fender Twin Reverb Line 6 plug in for recording. Love the sound of it. Sweet.

This guitar has Alnico III pick ups, which seem to be more high gain friendly.

Just go for it. You will get yourself a great tone, a cool looking guitar and save some nice bucks in the process.

-Luis

Yes I'm considering a highway one Tele also as suppose to be American made and looks nice, but even some of the Mexican Tele's aren't bad either. The Deluxe is cool also. Just can't go wrong with Fender what ever choice. 8)
