I have read that wiring your pickups in series will give you a fatter tone. I would like to try this, but cannot find a wiring diagram for it. Does anyone have a diagram for this mod that retains the stock three way switch?

You'll love it!

Get a push/pull pot:

Then:

You need to change the neck pickup wiring ( unless you have TS pups):

The sound is great! I use it for jazz. A tech rewired my Tele with a four position pup switch. The first three positions are unchanged: bridge pickup, both pickups in parallel, neck pickup. The fourth position puts the pickups in series. It's fat and full and with a Groovetubes Fatfinger clamped to the headstock, the sound hangs around for some great slowhand. I don't know where to get the wiring diagram for this, but it has to be out there somewhere. I know this doesn't exactly answer the question (my three position switch was replaced), but the wiring may be simpler.

What I posted wasn't what you are looking for ?

Can you explain more if not ? It's a pretty easy mod. My Tele has the 4 way like you mentioned, and I have a Nocaster I did the p/p pot deal on for series.

Thanks guys. I am beginning to lean towards the four way switch. For a few bucks you can have all four. . . not a bad deal.

Texas Special tele pickups are great for this sort of project. I used them for my "middle position is serial" setup on my MIM rewire project. See earlier post in this forum ("Bals-To-The-Wals") and attached wiring diagram, or send me a message.
