I prefer to "earn" my own dings, not someone else's!

Well, for me i like to purchase guitar worn by others... because it's cheap hahaha! I always wanted a Highway one telecaster but i couldn't afford it... so i always checked if there was any with dings and straches, and i found one, for 400$... a 2007 at that price for a few dings and belt scratches.

So now i have a telecaster with a bit a worn, and for now on, it's me that gonna "earn" dings and scratches!

:D

The only "worn" guitar I've ever fancied, is the Joe Strummer Tele. Other than that, my guitars are all in pristine condition.

If the dinged guitar sounds good and is nicely priced, why not? If you like your Strat, keep it!

I keep all of my guitars in really good condition, however, there is something about a guitar with natural play wear that is appealing.

Buying worn guitars is not my thing. If I do get a blemish on it I wont think its the end of the world, but I try to keep them looking new.

My preference is for a new shiny guitar that grows gracefully old with me :D

It depends on the guitar, I s'pose, but I don't particularly understand infatuations with relic-ed or preworn guitars, myself. I prefer being able to associate a memory or story with the wear and tear on mine.

I love the finish on my Tele and I just about lost it when it got its first ding. But, that's inevitable, innit?

I've gotta agree. I just don't see the need for a pre-worn guitar. I've got a new Tele and I'll probably cry when it gets its first ding.

Well, I've got one of each. A well worn 1967 Tele that I bought used in 1972. It was well used and has the previous owner's name written on the body with magic marker. I haven't ever been able to get it all out of the finish. But I've put a few dents in it and worn the fretboard out in a few spots. But I wouldn't part with it and it no longer leaves my studio.

I have a 2001 model that was new when I bought it in 2002. I don't think it gives up much to the older one in feel and it is the one I use mainly for practice and rehearsals now. It'll earn it's own stripes with time.

Now the Fender Road Worn series is an interesting concept and maybe cool for collectors or hard core fans, but as a player they leave me cold. I'd rather do my own damage!

I'm of the "earn the wear" variety. My "new life" guitars purchased since 1998 are all in good shape. But my 72 Mustang from active musician days has a lot of earned cracks, a few dings and some crud ... all from many years of enjoyment.

I try not to bang up my guitars... but if it happens it's no the end of the world.
