Japanese Telecaster Autenticity
« on: January 03, 2009, 02:53:26 pm »

Hi there.

I'm trying to buy a japanese telecaster but I have some dubts about the autenticity of te guitar.

Someone is able to help me taking this decision ?? Smiley

The seller told me that the Telecaster is a Japanese Telecaster made between 1984 and 1987.

I have few photos...that are posted here :

Does anyone think that it could be a korean tele ??

Thanks in advance...

Need more photos. And I don't like the way that headstock looks.

I dont think its a 80's japanese fender. Theres no walnut around the trussrod access and no skunk stripe either. It does look nice though and if it plays and sounds good for the right price i'd consider it.

The trussrod adjustment doesn't seem right, not even for an 80's japanese tele, as well as the logo. Actually some of them really had a non-walnut (but black plastic) trussrod plug. But other elements of this guitar bug me like saddle type and pickguard. I wouldn't take it for a japanese Fender tele, and about koreans I don't have much info at all.

Romeo,

This is the third forum that I have seen your question about this tele.

Unfortunately, the answer is the same here too. :(

At best this Tele appears to be a partscaster. The neck is almost certainly NOT a Japanese telecaster neck. This is because:

a. The truss rod is wrong
b. The decal is wrong

The body may well be a Japanese made one, but the bottom line is that this is NOT an authentic Made in Japan Telecaster.
