I made my weekly pilgramage to the local Fender store this am and as usual headed straight for the Tele rack. The salesman brought out a new Vintage 52 Hot Rod out of the back......all I can say is WOWWW!
Whatta machine!...........I had my heart set on the prettier American Deluxe........The Hot Rod sounds so sweet w/the neck hummer and so sweet to play.......I liked the C neck on the AD but the old U neck was ok.........I am torn........I do think the Hot Rod will be coming home w/me next weekend in my Pick-up truck.

Feedback always appreciated!

:D

Thanks,
LJ

Nice guitar! I almost got one. The only reason I didn't was because I didn't know how I would feel about that baseball bat for a neck a month down the road. I think I like it. Just don't know if I would prefer a more modern neck down the road. I think for chording it's good but if you want to do a lot of lead work it might get old.

Just me.

You could get the AM DLX and put a humbucker in the neck. It would be cheaper and you would get the neck you want.

yes....I thought of that.......one of the biggest impressions the 52 HR gave me was the ability to stay in perfect tune after an hour of playin around........never once did I need a re-tune and I am a freak for bein tuned...........most of the C necks Ive tried didn't provide that performance.....I also found a nice 2005 B-bender for 850.....very minty......its 2500 miles from me tho........I'd like to try it.....not sure if it would have the newer satin C neck.........I do play Country so it me be destined for me...... what to do what to do.....

I like big necks so the Vintage Hotrod '52 gets my vote.
The Seymour Duncan minibucker is also a plus.

Does the B-bender have the middle PUP? I don't know why Fender doesn't make more Tele's with these? The good thing about the Hot Rod 52 is if you don't like it after a week or two you can take it back to GC.

May just be me but to my ears thick necks help even string response and to a lesser degree tone. My baja with a huge neck sounds very even and sweet in comparison to my 57 hotrod strat and its skinny smooth V neck.
