I just got a new Amercan Standard Tele and the high e string felt a bit high to me especially at the 2nd and 3rd frets. I've tried lowering it but it doesn't seem to help. Is there anythig I can do to alleviate this issue? Any help would be apprecaited.

Measure the string hieght and see if it's to Fender specs (outlined in your owners manual). If it's to their specs it's okay. If it's out of spec, adjust at the saddle and/or check your neck curvature (also outlined in your owners manual)

Could the neck curvature affect a single string?

If it's more of a "twist" maybe. I just threw that in there to be thorough. A pro set up (or even a carefully done home set up should fix it.

You could take it to a music shop and ask someone there about it. If it is gonna cost to get it fixed, return it to MF.

Nut slots too shallow maybe? that could be why you notice it at the 2nd and 3rd frets also why bridge adjustment isnt making much of a impact.

Just a guess. Take it to a repair shop, dont try to cut the slots yourself they are very easy to mess up and it shouldnt cost more than a couple of quid for someone who knows what their doing to sort out.
