I have been thinking about it for a while. I love the way the neck looks. I love the big frets. I am not a fan of how thick the neck is. I was wondering what kind of neck i could replace it with. Would an American Standard tele neck work? A 72 Custom neck? I hope this question isn't retarded. I've never changed a neck on a guitar before. Can you just change the neck out without modifying the guitar?

I am positive that the Tele Deluxe Reissue's neck is actually a Strat neck and thus the neck pocket in the body is routed to a Strat neck dimension, which is different than Tele's neck pocket.

Thus, you can replace the neck of your Tele Deluxe with any 70's style 3-bolt Strat neck without any mod if you want to use Fender's neck.
But I don't think you can use Tele's neck (including 72 Tele custom neck) with the body of your 72 Tele Deluxe unless you re-cut the neck pocket of the Deluxe.

If you want to use an aftermarket neck, you can check out www.warmoth.com. You can have a custom-made neck to your liking.
(for 3-bolt neck, check out their "Vintage Modern" construction option)
