You wont go far wrong with a squire. There may be better guitars in your price range, but i find squire to have a consistent decent quality when others may knock out some winners and losers.

I would suggest hitting the pawn shops in your area. I have a Standard Series fat tele that I got for $120.00. It is one of my favorites and sees more playing time than my 07 American Standard.

Looks like for brand new, you have two choices: Affinity or Standard.

Is the standard worth $30 more? Only your ears and hands can decide.

If you don't mind used, you may be able to find better value in a full Fender.

I'd grab up a Standard Squier if you can.
The "Vintage Vibe" series are even better if you can find one used.
