Ok, so i'm trying to get to the bottom of what I actually have. I've read a lot of different things about these years of guitars... The serial number is MN400979, so it has the serial number of a MIM Tele. In big black letters it says Fender and has the serial number and MIM, just like my MIM Strat, except my strat has the greyish, outlined in black letters. At the end of the head it says Squier Series in little letters, like an artist series.... I've heard different things about these like:

The Korean plant had a fire, so the 94-95's were made at the Mexico plant.

They were a test run before the Mexican Standards were introduced.

They were testing American parts, like the neck for one...

here is one site w/ some info: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/archive/inde ... 29959.html

It is a sweet guitar. The pups might be a little better. But the thing stays in tune like none other and the neck feels great... I'm really just curious to know what I have... A good guitar is a good guitar regardless of the name. Every once in a while everyone makes a turd, I know this... And likewise. I'm just a curios person! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! :?:

Don't believe every thing you read. That one post on the page that says they are superior to the present Highwayone Tele. give me a break that is someone who must have one and wants to think that. In 1996 they expanded the whole Squier line but I do not think any meet the quality of the US models much less the present ones.

I've a 95 mexican squire series. Your absolutely correct about the quality of the neck, it leaves my baja and 57hotrod necks choking on dust. The pots failed on mine after 3 months and the neck had to be creaked round to get a true string path, but aside from that no problems ever.
They are a fender guitar, not squire. They were called the fender squire series not the squire squire series. The body, pickguard and tuner sizes all match up to fender guitars. The body and pickguard were bigger than squires of the time, the machineheads were smaller. The holes are the same size as the kluson holes on the Vintage reissue guitars.
