I have a beautiful MIM strat that plays and sounds like a dream. I played tele's before but never really thought about getting one.

Recently, I messed around and started playing my cousin's MIA Std Tele. Well, it was a pleasant surprise. It has the maple neck and it played just as sweet as my beloved Strat but had this 'angrier' edge to the tone. When I jumped on it, it 'barked' and had loads of attitude  . Didn't realize how much I liked that until I got back home and couldn't quite get it on my Strat :( .

After a couple more hours on that Tele, I went out and traded some gear for a used MIM Tele in that discontinued Agave Blue. The guy I got it from was an acoustic player and he never really used it. All he did was replace the factory white pickguard with blue perloid. Not only is the thing quite nice looking, it plays better than my strat and just sounds incredibly awesome through my Custom 5E3 D-lux (even though verything sounds good through this amp). More spank than my Strat and I can get better jazz tones out of it also.

I think I've been converted 8) .

I know what you mean. I recently got an MIM Tele and it has become my favorite guitar over my Strat and LP. The action is incredible and the tone is excellent.

Agreed. The 2008 American Std. Tele is amazing. The ash body is BEAUTIFUL! Especially with the chrimson transparent red. 8) Every time I open the case I just stare at it. In fact, I think I'm going to go play it now. lol

I have a American Standard in Vintage White and I love it. Its not my first Tele and in want be my last. My son liked playing it so much I bought him a MIM Tele and it plays fine.

Be careful with Telecaster addiction. I have 10 Tele style guitars with 6 different PU configs:
SC Neck & Bridge
HB Neck & SC Bridge
P90 Neck & SC Bridge
Mini HB Neck & SC Bridge
1 Double HB Tele
1 Esquire conversion Tele...

Gotta love the Tele.
I'm a Strat man myself but I also own a Tele and I really enjoy playing it.

When I went out to purchase my first "real guitar" (I had a cheap Series "A" strat copy), I anticipated going home with a white Gibson Les Paul with gold hardware. I picked up a MIA standard tele, metallic teal green with pearloid pick guard.
Needless to say I took it home that very day and 14 years later I still favor that guitar. Since then I have replaced the bridge pickup with a Seymore Duncan Little '59 stacked humbucker. It beefs it up, but keeps that tele "twang"! I had an Ibanez Artcore for a couple of years, never played it. I always chose the tele.

I started with Strats but have purchased two Telecasters. The first I bought in 2001. It's a 2000 American Power Deluxe Telecaster that is the nicest playing guitar I ever owned. The second one I bought used in 2002. In 2004 I sold it to a friend and bought it back a year later. It's a 1972 (original) Telecaster Deluxe with the tremolo bridge. It was very beat up but had just been refretted by someone that knew what he was doing. All the pickups and pots are original and the pots were made in 1972. It is the ugly looking walnut finish that is worn to the primer and wood in places. The onle problem is the pick up selector switch is worn out, but so far I have not replaced it. the harshell case is original also, with one broken latch and wear that matches the condition of the guitar. It plays awsome. i know that this is incorrect English, but it best describes the Tele.

Hello Darkstr0ke,

I'm a mexico tele user, mine is a '96,
perfect condition and never lets me down.
I'm in search of a new tele but at the
end of the day it's back to my
south of the border axe.
But Santa will be here soon.

Cheers.
