I'm not a b bender player, but if I had one that's all I would play. Where can I get one? I can't see to find them anywhere. Not even the mechanism to have one installed. Any info on where they're hiding?

I guess you'll have to drop them an E-mail. I don't have one nor have I tried to contact them. I have no Idea if it'll help, but good luck.

I've been playing them for 30+ years. I've had Parsons-Whites, Hipshots, Higgins, Palm Pedals, EZ benders, and some custom one--off gadgets.

But NOTHING beats the new Evans Pullstring. Dave Evans was the guy who really started B-Bender production as a reality (he made the bender guitar Bernie Leadon played with the Eagles, plus guitars for Albert Lee, Al Perkins and many others). He stopped back in the 70's out of courtesy when Gene Parsons decided to go into production (and also after Clarence White was killed who he was building a custom guitar for), but recently started up again.

His bender is very advanced compared to others - the "throw" length has adjustable settings (a normal short-throw like a PW - 5/8"; a long-throw like Clarence White's original - 1 1/8"; and a mid-position at 7/8", which is my favorite) - and you can change the throw in less than 5 minutes. There are classy touches - the back cover is secured with embedded nuts and real bolts - not just wood screws.

Also, the spring tension, always a huge issue - either too tight or too loose with other benders - is fully adjustable with a screwdriver-like allen wrench. It takes seconds to change and you can find the precise balance point you prefer. With a PW you have to remove the spring and a wood screw, guess at where it needs to go, replace it and then try to re-mount the spring without cutting yourself (which I've done twice). With the Parsons-Green (aka Fender Bender) you have to replace the spring itself - there are no screws to move and no adjustments.

Because of the light weight parts (high strength Delrin is used for some pieces) it adds essentially no weight - and the position of the spring in relation ship to the pull-rod makes it operate very smoothly with a linear, consistent pull - you can slow down, speed up, stop in the middle...all the things tought to pull off with most others. That smooth, even pull avoids the "on-off" switch feel of benders like Glasers and Sheltons (IMO).

The guy is also a perfectionist - he's charging about the same as Parsons or Glaser, but the quality and features are, to me, worth LOTS more.

Worth checking into - his website is pretty basic right now; it's better to just call him; he's a nice guy. The REALLY amazing thing - he builds recording studio stuff and does not even PLAY guitar! Here's a link - http://www.evanspullstring.com

I lucked into one at Guitar Center. It sounds great, but I must say I am disappointed with the finish on the poplar body. _That_ is going to be an issue. It's like--new--except it's kind of "road worn" and not in a good way. Sunburst finish.

I doubt Fender would cede ownership of this to G&L--which would become the defacto only way to go. The b bender is a fine sounding guitar without using the bender--and the fact that you are "only" bending one string has no bearing--the 2nd string is the right one to have a bender on, and you can play straight chords otherwise impracticable to do just by using the bender to tighten up that B string to a C sharp. And, when used for it's intended purpose--really remarkable. And the Fender bender much easier to use, for me, than that silly G&L stick thing.

Thanks! I hope they dont stop making it. It would be cool if fender would produce a G-Bender also.
