Hi All, I'm in the market for a new tele preferably mia. I have small hands and generally just play rythm parts. What radius and neck type would fit right in a small hand? I have a 72 thineline and love it but i think the neck is almost to thick for playing a long time. I know you guys are the smartest when it comes to knowledge about tele's. Never let a salesman sell you a guitar!

Your best bet is to hold/play as many as you can. The width of the nut plays a big part in making a guitar comfortable to me. It's all about the "feel".

I'd suggest trying a Hwy 1 Tele. I think that you'd find the necks very comfortable on these models from what you described. Good luck!

I found that the Telecaster neck is pretty slim compared to most other guitars. Mine is definately thinner and faster than the neck on my Strat or LP. I too have small hands and really enjoy playing the Tele most of all as it fits me really well. A standard Tele may be what you are looking for.

dont bother with the baja. On mine, I think they just sanded a tree trunk, fretted it and put it on a tele body.

Thanks for the input. The deep u neck on my thinline feels good for awhile but i think i might like a soft c better. I guess some good tlc at GC will decide.

I'd second Miami Mike -- I too have very short stubby fingers and I find my Hwy1 is comfortable for reasonably long sessions. I favor very thin, narrow necks (e.g., ultra-narrow D'Armond/Guild M75T and on bass the Gibson SG Reissue) but have no problem with the Hwy1.

That was in fact my first Fender, back in 2000. I'd tried a number of Fender models and this particular Hwy1 fit my style and hand well.
