... I can't deal with the hum I get in certain venues. SO - I'm looking to replace the pickup with something. Ideally (but probably not realistically), I'd like to get a sound just as close to the stock pickup as possible, just minus the hum. Does anybody have any recommendations on a bridge pickup that would achieve this? Thanks in advance

I don't have a pickup suggestion, but wanted to mention sheilding. Have you tried sheilding the control cavity and pickgaurd? This may help enough to allow you to keep your stock pickup.

I think this is right. No one should consider changing pickups until the question of shielding is settled. Unless you really don't like the installed pickups of course.

A number of manufactures make humbuckers that fit into a single-coil envelope and are reputed to have single coil sound. Kinman comes to mind. I hear a lot of good things about them. They aren't cheap.

Thanks for the replies (and sorry for my delay in responding). I'll look into shielding first!

Hello Firon,

My guitars{4 strats,1tele} are all quiet
everywhere except my house. I live
nearly underneath a power line, after
all these years I've grown accustom
to the extra noise. So possibly play at
another location to see if the hum diminishes.
Jut a thought.

Cheers
