So tell me what is the difference between the Highway 1 upgrade and the Texas Highway 1. And is the Highway 1 good one or should I go for the American Standard

"Good" is relative - you need to go try one and compare it to others to decide what you like best. There are many very satisfied Highway 1 owners.

My 2004 Highway One Texas Tele also came with the greasebucket tone circuit (don't know if they still do) and hotter "Texas" pickups.

I really like the Highway One series. You get a good playing American made guitar at a reasonable price. I think it's the best "bang for the buck" deal that Fender has going.

Bought a Texas Tele new in '04 and love it.

Another thing you should note is the 12" radius board, very comfortable!!
Pickups are hot, especially the bridge.
Personally i find the stock american pups sound very tinny and thin...

but like everyone else on this board will tell you it's up to your own personal preferance and playing style.

I own both and love them both. I modded my Hwy1 with a Dunc Quarter Pounder in the neck and a Little '59 in the tail, a Wilkinson compensated bridge, gibby 500k pots, a $20 mylar film tone cap and my Am Standard will never and I do mean never be F'd with it. I built my Hwy1 into what I wanted as far tone and the Standard is my tone. if that means anything.
Peace. J.J.B.

I started back playing after a career mandated 15 years, so i bought an american strat, then i bought the highway one tele, cause they felt the same, so the tones were obviously different , but for me the comfort and familiarity was welcome. I dont like the traditional 7.5 neck like on a thinline.
