went to guitar center on friday for the 15 % off sale. i had narrowed my choices to 57 strat reissue, 62 strat reissue, 52 tele reissue, and an american strat . all they had in stock was the american strat and 52 reissue tele. after playing both for awhile i really liked them both. but i went with the tele mostly because the tone knob seems to really give a different sound with really very little movement of the knob...also it is an incredibly beautiful guitar....

well i made the right choice...it is an incredible axe!!!!!

How's your '52RI working out?

Mine arrived a couple of days late, but as I'd been waiting many years for my first Tele I wasn't too upset. My wife's claimed it as a Christmas present and taken it off me anyway so I've still got a couple more weeks until I finally get round to playing it which, as I'm sure you'll understand, is killing me! I had to check it out as soon as it arrived though - it really is one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen and so well made!

Do you mind if I have a few Kilkenny's for you tomorrow night; staff Christmas party and all...

WOW! I have played many guitars in my life. This one takes them all.
One of my main issues with other guitars is tuning stability. This guitar stays in tune. The tone is unbelievable even thru my 50W vox (don't have a good fender amp yet). Every detail of the guitar from looks to funtionality I would give a perfect 10. I even traded in my (don't bash me please) Gibson LP Standard. (Sorry for using the "G" word.)
There has not been one time that I have regreted it.
Please play one of these before you buy another guitar please!

I just bought a 94 model 52 Tele re-issue. I am 99.9% sure that it is a USA made Tele but do you know how I can tell for sure. Of course it does not have anything on the headstock to indicate this. All I have found is a date written on the end of the neck, 52 TELE written under the neck on the body and some other misc. stampings.

sorry it took me a while to respond...i have been really busy and not around the forum much.

By all means have several kilkenn'ys for me...i lived in montreal canada for about four months in 2000 and reallly enjoyed drinking kilkenny...but i can't get it in los angeles...the closes to it that i have found is caffrey's.

as far as my 52 tele it's working out great. what i really like about it is by using the tone knob and volume knob i can get almost an unlimited amount of different sounds. i also like the neck pickup by itself...which many people complain about i can get some weird unique sounds out of it.

also the resonance of the guitar is really amazing...i know i made the right choice.

it's nice that your wife got you yours as a gift...i am sure it is killing you having to wait ...knowing it's in your house.

my wife bought me a pedal for the holidays which arrived yesterday this one:
http://www.proguitarshop.com/product.ph ... egoryID=10

i can't have it until the 25th.

I have the guitar Center anniv. model; are these two axes the same?

Follow up
I was wondering IF these models were the same so far as pickups and wiring; I know the finish and the the 60th Anni. model having a logo is different.
