I'm looking at a 2004 American Standard Tele in excellent condition. A few minor chips on the end and that's it. Standard issue equipment...I'm sorry I don't know the specifics. Shop owner is asking $695 with hard case included.

It sounds okay to me. I have seen them cheaper, but it is 300.00 less than a new one. I would try to talk him down a little, but if you really like the guitar I say go for it...

Hello Mainburner,

Firstly welcome to the forum,

At that price I would pass on a guitar that
has chips in the finish.

This time of year you can get a new
telecaster for $900 and you get that
new style case & WARRANTY in your name.

What's that, you don't have an extra $200
and you love that guitar? Talk to the shop
owner and buy it for $600 get him to throw in
some strings and maybe a Korg CA-30 tuner.

Best of luck on your purchase.

Post a photo of whatever you get.

Cheers.

Mr Bill,

THANK YOU! You are so right. Fact of the matter is...I don't really love the guitar. The one I love is a new american standard transparent crimson with a maple neck. Thanks to you, I'm going to pull the trigger on that model tomorrow. What's $200 over a lifetime right?

Hello Mainburner,

Good choice, but you may have to cough up
an additional $60 or so more for that finish.
It has an Ash Body, which many{myself included}
feel is a superior body. Best of luck with it
Don't forget to post some photos.

Cheers.

For something you love, priceless....and less than a penny (depending how old you are at this point - about .008 cents) a day if live to 70 (hopefully longer & with good health).
