Post subject: Whats with the hole in the tele bridge pickup?

I felt like a total moron yesterday as I had just noticed it for the first time out of 20+ years of playing, at first I thought it was a defect till the sales guy pointed out all the others with it. Whats it for?

You're talking about the top plate hole. It does not even go through the base plate so I dont see the function either. My only guess is so the top plate for Teles look different than the top plate for Strats. ???

I think its a mass production tool so they can either center the pickup or hold in a collection before applying the PU to the guitar.
