Hi,

have ordered Dimarzio Twang Kings for my Tele Tele - Sunburst Mex Standard. The sound samples for these pickups sound sound so sweet! Good website over at DiMarzio too! Finally worked out that damn fine riff...

Thinking about buying another Mex Standard and really tricking this one up for a different sound... (quick bit of Bgrnd info) used to play a Gibson LP Goldtop. Stopped playing electric and moved over to accoustic (threw away the plectrum)... returned to electric again last year to play fingers and thumb pick style... recently bought a Hagstrom Super Swede which is a Les Paul looking very beautiful guitar with p90 like pickups with split coil switches... funnily enough, the weekend I got it, I spent playing my Tele cause it just didn't compare... needless to say it's on ebay for sale! So, finally getting to the point, I want to set up another new Tele for that 70-80s rock sound... beautiful ringing overdriven chords where all strings are clearly defined when they ring... and that Ace Frehley, Thin Lizzy sound for the solos that has so much "clean overdriven" high end sustain. Some guys at the local guitar shop suggested SDs, but I wasn't too impressed with their website and especilly not impressed with their pickup sound samples... Ha, back to the Dimarzio site, have considered an Area T for the bridge but am still not sure what to put in the neck... Super Distortion T or Virtual Hot T bridge??????

Cheers,

Brian Oblivion

I like the SD's. I have a Cali Series Fat Tele. I put a Duncan "Little '59" in the bridge and I love it. Unbelievable through my 5150. I would like to wire it up for maximum potential but haven't gotten around to it. When I got the pup it was kinda overwhelming, so when I got it to work I just put it back together. I don't even remember how I did it. It works fine, but I know It's just scratching the surface. Any suggestions?
