There's a kid in my church with an American Telecaster & a Hot Rod Deluxe. It's got a good overdrive sound, but what non-digital distortion pedal would you recommend for a beefier sound option?

Anyone ever tried a Big Muff with this setup?

That is a great site, but it misses a couple like the Ibanez TS9, and the Visual Sounds Jekyll and Hyde. (The latter might be a bit excessive for your needs since it has the overdrive of the route 66 with an added option of a distortion pedal to augment it or to use separately). Hope this adds a little more to your search. I would suggest one of the Ibanez tube screamers, or the route 66. At least those two of my favorites. Really, go and mess around and see which one works for you.

I have a Tube Screamer. I am looking for something that will be meatier for them. Give them a little more chunk as an option.

In that case, maybe the jekyll hyde pedal would work... or i like the OCD i think its on that site. I've seen some crazy sounds out of a tube screamer though. Augmenting a driven Orange amp for instance is the set up for one of the loudest bands I listen to. Doubt you'd enjoy the band but if you want to hear the extent that the ts9 can be used, check out "The fall of troy" (WARNING: this is a loud screamy crazy time signature using modern progressive rock band...so keep that in mind...) But I would suggest the OCD. I like that pedal too.

cant beat a tube screamer, i use 2 of them one for rythym, and one for more gain and a little volume boosts for lead

Danelectro Daddy-O. 3-band EQ, lots of overdrive and looks cool, too!
