Well, let's take a peek under the pickguard of a Custom Shop stealth:

It looks like the hidden pickups are routed a bit deeper than usual.

I found this image by searching "stealth esquire."

Thats a good picture orv I have never seen one showing that. It does look as though they are just cut deeper in.

niki's question made me curious.

I stumbled upon that picture in my searches.

I think he's thinking about having just one pickup hidden underneath the pickguard, but, hey, go nuts!

I would love to try one out to see if you can get enough output out of a hidden pickup.

Very cool! But wouldn't that hidden pickup need to be "hella hot" to get a decent signal output behind the pick guard? or maybe the pickguard is strategically shaved over the hidden pickup! It looks like the routes are a bit larger too.

Are you going to do it?

Tried it today, with a dimarzio fs2. It fitted okish, only a slight bulge over the pickup possition. so all i need to do now is get a esquire scratchplate.

On a side note i sank the vintage noiseless on my strat flush with the plate. Part of my quest to calm em down a bit. Anyway there was no problem with the output so they may be worth considering.

wow that is cool! i thought that hiding a pick up under the plastic would not work. A long time ago I read about the Fender Marauder which had hidden pick ups and it wasn't successful. (I don't remember where)

btw here is the page I found the picture from http://www.strat-central.com/marauder.htm enjoy! :)

Did you try it through an amp? And was the output okay?

no i didnt wire it in, i only placed it in to see how the fit would be. The dimarzio is very high output though.
