Waylon Jennings. He's the reason I bought a Telecaster. He had a very unique sound. Brad Paisley also makes the most out of a Telly.

Above and beyond all, Danny Gatton. Put a .32 in his mouth a month after we taped him at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton Massachusetts. Check out any of his instructional videos and you will be working on the first section for a year. So that three chords and an attitude made it that he could'nt feed his family without being in a van (Bus? yeah right) for the rest of his life. He pioneered "Hillbilly Jazz" but the complexities of his chords and scales make him untouchable and a true mark to shoot for in the future. Then of course Roy B. (Hanging), the Hellecasters, (they were at the crossroads at midnight 25 years ago) and that makes for a scary 3pairing.

See you at the "X"
M

I saw robbie robertson listed but I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Bob Dylan, his early stuff is pretty crude, but he certainly influenced a lot of music.

The usual suspects- Roy Buchanan, Mike Bloomfield . . .

but what about early Mike Stern! And I know it wasn't a Fender, but how about Prince?

And, I agree with the guy who put down Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys. That guy just rips blood, sweat, tears, and soul from his Tele.
